The 22nd annual Canine Classic 5K Run/Walk, supporting the Humane Society of West Alabama (HSWA), is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, at Cardinal Park, located at the Tuscaloosa National Airport, 7325 Robert Cardinal Airport Rd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.

“This is the 22nd Canine Classic, and we’d like it to be one of the biggest. We welcome walkers, runners, children, and seniors,” said Executive Director Brian Gaerity. “It’s a fun event for a great cause. And with the Alabama-Georgia game later that day, you can enjoy your game day food and drinks guilt-free.”

Race packets can be picked up at the downtown YMCA on Friday, September 26, or on the day of the race, starting at 7:00 a.m., with the race beginning at 8:00 a.m.

According to the press release, the “race entry fee is $25. Humans only, please, in the road race. The first 150 registrants receive a T-shirt and swag bag, and all entrants will be entered into a drawing for door prizes.”

The course is flat, certified, and designed for both runners and walkers. Refreshments, including sports drinks, fruit, snacks, and water, will be provided. Click here for information and to register.

“We are so thankful to all our sponsors, participants, and supporters,” said race organizer Anne Hornsby. “As a nonprofit relying on the generosity of our donors, our fundraisers, like the Canine Classic, allow us to continue our hard work of supplying care, shelter, and ultimately finding a loving home for our dogs and cats.”
