
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox On Upcoming Amp Concerts And “Most Desired” New Business
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox joined the 953 Bear Steve & DC Morning Show to discuss a variety of hot topics.

Mayor Maddox discussed upcoming concerts at the Mercedes-Benz Tuscaloosa Amp. Steve & DC pointed out that it’s almost spring and very few big concerts have been announced for the Amp. The mayor explained booking challenges when competing with the Coca-Cola Amp in Birmingham and the Orion in Huntsville.
Maddox said we are days away from announcements, including a country music concert sure to please local fans.
The mayor is thrilled that Morgan Wallen is coming to Bryant Denny Stadium April 18th. There will be many benefits for the city.
The mayor discussed the impact of mental health issues in the Tuscaloosa community and how the city is responding.
Also, the search is on for a permanent Tuscaloosa Police Chief.
Maddox updated the effort to attract a significant business for the old McFarlane Mall property. The mayor said this is an ongoing effort, but nothing has been finalized.
Mayor Maddox told Steve & DC listeners that a Costco is one of the most desired new businesses by many residents.
