Alabama: It’s Said You Shouldn’t Buy These Items At Walmart
Everyone has a grocery store preference. Whether you go to Publix, Winn-Dixie, or Piggly Wiggly they all carry similar products. Walmart is a little different than those grocery stores.
Walmart is more than a grocery store, it’s an everything store. They carry food, clothes, furniture, toys, household essentials, and electronics, and they even have their own pharmacy and auto shop.
Now that everything is so expensive due to inflation, people are being a little more picky than usual about where they purchase their items. Although this should always be the motto now people are picking quality over quantity on certain things just because money is tight. On the flip side, there are just certain things you can find cheaper elsewhere.
Produce
The first thing to avoid buying from Walmart is their produce. This is one of those situations where you should pick quality over quantity. When it comes to Walmart's produce section it just never seems fresh and goes bad very quickly. A great alternative would be Publix which has an immaculate selection of produce.
Vitamins & Supplements
Since the pandemic, a lot of people have been increasing their health awareness and are now taking daily vitamins to support their body’s overall health. Please avoid buying your vitamins and supplements from Walmart and here’s why.
According to The Washington Post, Walmart received a cease and desist letter in 2015 from the New York State Attorney General’s office stating that they were selling fraudulent and potentially hazardous vitamins.
Toys
Although they sell toys you could find cheaper options and better deals. With so many companies today and many deals going on during the holidays, in-store prices seem to be the highest. Many have found cheaper toy options online on sites like Amazon for example.
Meat
Lastly, the most important of them all is Walmart's fresh meat. Their meat has always been an issue, even back in 2003 according to The New York Times. Even more recently, there was an issue in 2016 where they had to recall 90,000 pounds of its Angus beef patties, according to Times.
Ultimately, Walmart can be a go-to place for a lot but you worry as a consumer if your quality is up to par. Even looking past their products, Walmart is a store where you never know what to expect when walking through their doors. So always take a double look when shopping at Walmart.
