If there's something I've learned to do more of while living in Alabama , it's go on road trips.

Before living in the Yellowhammer state, I would never drive somewhere that's 4 hrs away spend a few hours there and drive back.

Completely unheard of!

I tell my friends and family back home in Florida all the time about how my family and I drive to Orange Beach for a beach day and return to Tuscaloosa.

Recently, Gunther Motor Company carried out a survey of 3,000 regular road trippers to find out the most popular 100 weekend road trips in the USA they would most like to experience in the summer.

Surprise!

Alabama made the list.

The state of Alabama's Birmingham to Gulf Shores via U.S. Highway 231 road trip was voted as America's 47th favorite weekend road trip.

On that route,  you'll see the transition from the urban hustle and bustle of Birmingham to the serene beauty of the Gulf Coast. The route takes you through rolling hills, charming small towns, and picturesque countryside, offering glimpses of Alabama's rich history and culture.

Along the way, you can explore attractions like the iconic Ave Maria Grotto in Cullman, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, and the beautiful Cheaha State Park. As you reach Gulf Shores, you'll be greeted by stunning white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and a vibrant coastal atmosphere.

Have you ever took this route to the Gulf Shores before?
