West Alabama Parents: Kids Movies Are Hitting Adults Too
Parents in West Alabama we have to have a serious conversation. The movies our children are watching needs to be discussed.
There is a large amount of major selling movies targeted to kids. In fact, in 2024, four out of the top 10 movies were kid targeted titles at one point in the year according to the People Platform.
Many may believe that these kids movies are only watched by children and that's simply not true. The truth is parents and even adults without kids are watching these movies during their own personal "adult time."
I happen to be one of those adults!
Recently, I found myself more into one of my children's movies than they were. The story line, the plot, characters and humor were all amazing. Most of all, the life lessons hit home. Simple enough for a child to understand and entertaining enough for an adult to love.
Here's my top 3 children's movies that adults will secretly love to watch alone.

Onward
Released in 2020, this Disney film is centered around two elf brothers who embark on a magical quest to bring back their late father for just one more day. Throughout the journey many characters emerge and all kinds of lessons are learned and the ending is one of the most touching endings I've seen in a while.
Inside Out 2
Everyone deals with emotions on a daily basis. This movie follows the main character Riley as she enters high school and navigates changes when it comes to friendships, school and more. This Pixar film was released in 2024 and brings emotions to the forefront in a way that we've never seen before.
Turning Red
When family traditions, friendships, social life, school and being a young girl all collide, there is no telling what you'll get. Add in that you can now turn into a huge Godzilla sized panda when your emotions go out of control and you never knew you could! Turning Red is a Disney and Pixar film released in 2022 and it's worth every minute. Kids and adults will love this movie.
