Polls have closed in Alabama's primary elections, which were also held in more than a dozen other states and territories on this Super Tuesday ahead of November's Presidential election.

Voters could cast ballots today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to nominate candidates within their party for a slew of local and national positions from President of the United States down to Tuscaloosa County Circuit Clerk.

Republicans had more candidates to select, with as many as eight contested races for GOP nominations in some areas of Tuscaloosa County.

Local Democrats had a maximum of two contested races in Tuscaloosa County, depending on whether they live in the state's 7th Congressional District, where Terri Sewell is seeking re-election but faces a challenge from Birmingham's Chris Davis.

All voters also considered Statewide Amendment 1, which would authorize the Legislature to sign and transmit local laws or constitutional amendments before they adopt state budgets.

Live results from these races will be published below in real-time as they become available, so stay connected to the Tuscaloosa Thread for local returns!
