A McCalla man has been arrested after he allegedly sent threatening messages and pictures of weapons to a Tuscaloosa hospital Saturday.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said 35-year-old Jeffery Chase Jones is the man police believe is responsible for threats that sent DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa into lockdown Saturday afternoon.

She said Jones sent threatened violence against hospital staff and also included images of weapons in messages sent to DCH accounts.

Safety measures were put in place at he Tuscaloosa hospital and also Northport DCH while TPD investigators worked the case and eventually identified Jones as the suspect.

Taylor said members of the US Marshals Task Force and TPD officers located Jones and arrested him in Bessemer around 7 p.m. Saturday.

He is charged with first-degree making terroristic threats, a Class C felony, and being held without bond until it is set by a judge.
