The driver of a tractor-trailer died Tuesday morning when the vehicle caught fire behind a gas station in Tuscaloosa while they were inside.

Holly Whigham, a spokesperson for Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue, confirmed they received reports of a semi truck on fire parked behind the TA Travel Center on Buttermilk Road.

TFR responded and found the cab of the truck fully involved in the fire. They extinguished the blaze, but the driver did not survive.

The call came in around 3 a.m., TFR said.

No information has yet been released on what caused the fire or about the identity of the driver.
