PARA has set the dates and theme for their 47th annual West Alabama Christmas Parade and are searching for a grand marshal to lead the event.

Becky Booker, PARA's public relations and marketing manager, said theme will be “A Hometown Christmas," and the Parade will be held December 4th with the county's Christmas Tree lighting at 5:15 p.m. and the parade kicking off at 6:30 p.m.

“The West Alabama Christmas Parade is a beloved holiday tradition and signature special event in our community,” said PARA CEDO Brian C. Davis. “PARA is pleased to present this holiday parade, which is the largest of its kind in the state of Alabama, to celebrate the official opening of the Christmas season.”

Nomination and registration forms are also available and parade entry fees are payable inside all PARA Activity Centers.

Nominations for the grand marshal designation must be submitted before October 8th at 5 p.m. and criteria for the job are posted online - the shoes to fill are big, as the Parade's first grand marshal was the legendary Coach Paul W. “Bear” Bryant.

Parade entry registrations are due by November 15 at 5 p.m. Parade Entry Registrations are due, and participants will meet before the parade on November 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Belk Activity Center on Bowers Park Drive.

PARA also noted that several levels of sponsorship are available for the parade for any company, organization or individual looking to demonstrate commitment to the community.
