Police in Tuscaloosa arrested redshirt freshman offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett Wednesday night and charged him with knowingly passing on a sexually transmitted disease.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, confirmed a report was filed last week that led to a warrant for Pritchett's arrest being issued and served Wednesday evening.

Pritchett, 19, was charged under AL Code § 22-11A-21, which classifies the knowing transmission of a sexually transmitted disease as a Class C misdemeanor.

He was released on a $500 bond later Wednesday.

Because of the nature of the charge and the legal protections around medical information, few details about the arrest are likely to be made public.

Pritchett, a former composite four-star from Columbus, Georgia, was in the offensive line rotation during the Crimson Tide's 2023 season. He was in and out of the lineup with true freshman Kadyn Proctor competing for the left tackle position.

Pritchett has appeared in Alabama's lineup in all 13 games this season both on offense and special teams. He had placed his name in the transfer portal on December 15 but removed his name on December 16, saying "transferring is not in my best interest."

While the 6-foot-6, 312-pound tackle played in every game for Alabama this season, his minutes were limited. He was in a position to compete for a starting job in the spring.
