Hundreds of spectators braved sporadic rain to see the 46th Annual West Alabama Christmas Parade return to the streets of downtown Tuscaloosa Monday night.

132 floats, vehicles, walking groups and marching bands participated in the parade, according to a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa County Parks and Recreation Authority, and a panel of judges honored those with the most holiday spirit after the parade came to an end.

Here are the winners from this year's competition:

Best Float

  • 1st - Chasing the Crown
  • 2nd - The Legacy Connection

Best Decorated Vehicle

  • 1st - Southern Heating and Cooling, LLC
  • 2nd - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Best Walking Group

  • 1st - Dancing Royalettes
  • 2nd - Holt Elementary Ironettes

Best Marching Band

  • 1st - Bryant High School
  • 2nd - American Christian Academy

Best Overall Award

  • Saint Paul Baptist Church

A PARA spokesperson said winners will be able to pick up trophies for their accolades at the PARA Building, located at 614 Greensboro Avenue, beginning Tuesday.

46th Annual West Alabama Christmas Parade

The streets of downtown Tuscaloosa were lined up with float, lights and visitors who kicked off the holiday season with the 46th Annual West Alabama Parade on December 5. The festivities began with the traditional tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Despite the random rain showers that formed throughout the night, the parade continued on, bringing holiday joy to all who attended!
