Jalen Hurts Dazzles This Week in Practice
The Philadelphia Eagles held its final practice of training camp today and the second of the teams two joint sessions against the New York Jets in New Jersey.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts had a strong showing this week after missing the Eagles second preseason game against the New England Patriots because of a stomach illness. Hurts was able to return to the field Sunday afternoon with no restrictions. In two joint practices with the Jets, he connected on 26-of-37 passes and accounted for eight total touchdowns. Hurts also had a number of strong throws during the one-on-one portion of practice.
"The confidence in Jalen Hurts from teammates has become much, much clearer. He's winning those guys over," said FOX Sports NFL Insider Jay Glazer."
Hurts has developed a connection with the Eagles young receivers, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Reagor and Quez Watkins this offseason. "All three big-time playmakers. Fast and can catch the ball well," Hurts said. "They're taking steps everyday. It definitely puts a lot of stress on the defense. I know they're great players. I'm happy to have them. I'm going to feed them."
Reagor expressed his belief in Hurts during Tuesday's presser. "He’s going to have to have a huge year. He’s going to shock a lot of people,” said Reagor.
The Eagles will have walkthrough tomorrow before facing the Jets, Friday, Aug. 27 at MetLife Stadium for the teams preseason finale. Head coach Nick Sirianni has been non-committal about Hurts playing status this week.
