After releasing the music video for “Moonlight,” JAY-Z has now released a behind-the-scenes look at the video. Coming in a just over two and a half minutes long, the video features director Allan Yang and the rest of the cast explaining the meaning behind the video.

A parody of the hit show Friends, actress Tiffany Haddish jokingly said her reason for taking on the role was because she got to play a white woman. Tessa Thompson went a little more in depth, saying, “We wanted to have a conversation about diversity and inclusion, which is something that is really ripe in the cultural conversation at the moment.”

Actor Jerrod Carmichael also gave his interpretation of the video, calling it “art that would make people think.” Tidal subscribers can check out the behind-the-scenes video above.
