JAY-Z Trying to Legally Secure Roc-A-Fella Diamond Hand Sign
JAY-Z is trying to legally secure the Roc-A-Fella diamond hand sign, reports TMZ.
The Roc Nation mogul reportedly has filed legal papers to have the exclusive right to the iconic diamond symbol that he’s been throwing up for well over a decade. Hov applied a trademark to use the diamond hand sign in a variety of entertainment fields including music, television and film.
JAY-Z initially lost a copyright lawsuit to legendary wrestler Diamond Dallas Page in 2007 who sued him for infringing on his trademarked hand symbol. Page has agreed to drop legal proceedings after the settlement that requires both parties to cover their own legal fees.
So it looks as if Page has lost his trademark and now JAY-Z is going to secure it for his own needs.
This news follows another report of JAY filing a trademark application to secure the Paper Planes logo for retail distribution in department stores and musical projects. He is also looking to have the paper planes logo on books, jewelry and even cosmetics.
The paper planes logo was created by JAY-Z's business partner Emory Jones (aka "Vegas") who is the Head of Lifestyle at Roc Nation.
