Community connection and giving back will take center stage Thursday, September 17, as the Junior League of Tuscaloosa (JLT) celebrates Find the Good Day, an initiative of the Association of Junior Leagues International, with two community events.

“Find the Good Day unites more than 290 Junior Leagues across the world in acts of kindness and service to strengthen local communities,” said the press release.

“Find the Good Day is about recognizing that each of us has the ability to make a positive difference in our community,” said Chelsea Ratcliff, President of the Junior League of Tuscaloosa. “Whether it’s giving blood, supporting a local nonprofit or business, or simply showing kindness to someone else, small acts of good can add up to meaningful impact.”

Community members can start the day by giving back in two meaningful ways.

Give Blood, Give Back

JLT will co-host a blood drive with the American Red Cross at the Northport Civic Center on Thursday, September 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors can register online in advance or walk in during the event. JLT will also collect school supplies (dot-a-dot markers, glue sticks, 4 oz. Elmer's Glue, and Scotch tape) to donate to its community partner, the RISE Center.

Coffee, Connection & Giving

The Find the Good Day celebration continues Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Comfort Grounds in downtown Tuscaloosa. It’s free and open to the community, and the event will give attendees an opportunity to connect while supporting JLT’s community service efforts.

“50% of food and drink proceeds will benefit the Junior League of Tuscaloosa’s community service projects. Attendees will be invited to make handmade thank-you cards to distribute to local teachers,” said the press release.

Joining Together to Find the Good

“Service is at the heart of the Junior League of Tuscaloosa, and Find the Good Day gives us an opportunity to put that spirit into action alongside our community,” said Ratcliff. “We invite the community to join us in finding the good.”
