Kelly Rowland Sheds Tears Over the Death of Her Mother on ‘The Voice: Australia’ [VIDEO]
Kelly Rowland had an emotional moment while being a judge on The Voice: Australia.
On a recent episode, the R&B singer was moved during a talk with contestant Hannah Pearce, who revealed that her father was killed by a roadside bomb while he was serving in Afghanistan. The 16-year-old singer told Rowland that “after so many years, you forget someone's voice.”
The revelation made Rowland burst into tears. She told Pearce, "I'm sorry I'm crying 'cause you just said something so profound. Oh, I miss my mom's voice. That's so true."
Rowland lost her mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, in December 2014 from a cardiac arrest at the age of 66. The matriarch's death occurred just three weeks after Rowland gave birth to her first child, Titan, with her husband Tim Weatherspoon.
On the show, Rowland appeared to have regained her composure as she and Pearce returned to the group. But then Rowland had to take another break telling the other judges, "I just need a minute."
The Destiny's Child singer went backstage and started crying on the shoulder of what appears to be her assistant. "I've forgotten the sound of [my mother's] voice," she says. "She just made me think about that. You do forget the sound of their voice."
It's was one of the most emotional moments on The Voice: Australia so far this season.
