Man Charged with Raping Woman At Student Apartment Complex
Investigators in Tuscaloosa have charged a 24-year-old Demopolis man with first-degree rape after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted at a student apartment complex Sunday morning.
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit investigates almost all cases of rape or sexual assault in Tuscaloosa County. VCU Assistant Commander Jack Kennedy said the victim called police at 4:40 Sunday morning and reported that she had been forcibly raped in a breezeway to an apartment building in Campus Evolution Village, a student apartment complex on 31st Street in southern Tuscaloosa.
Kennedy said the victim provided a good description of her assailant, and the VCU followed up with witnesses and collected evidence all day Sunday and through Monday morning.
Investigators located a suspect this afternoon and eventaully charged 24-year-old Tereza Demone Jones with first-degree rape.
