Suspect Arrested Following Deadly McKenzie Court Shooting
38-year-old Jonathan Peebles has been arrested following a shooting that left 1 person dead Thursday at Tuscaloosa's McKenzie Court housing complex.
According to Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Captain Jack Kennedy, on Thursday at approximately 11:00 pm the Tuscaloosa Police Department was dispatched to the 3500 Block of McKenzie Ave on a shooting.
Kennedy says police arrived to find a female victim, Tacara Moton, age 27, deceased and a suspect, Jonathan Lawayne Peebles, age 38, was taken into custody by responding patrol officers.
According to Captain Jack Kennedy, the victim and the suspect were found to have been in a dating relationship. The Violent Crimes Unit was called out to assume the investigation. After processing the scene, collecting evidence, and speaking with witnesses, Peebles was charged with Manslaughter and committed to the county jail with his bond to be set by the courts.
