Several road closures are planned this weekend with the potential to cause delays for drivers in the Druid City.

The portion of McFarland Boulevard that runs directly beneath the crimson arch bridge at Exit 73 of Interstate 20/59 will be closed from 11 a.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. ALDOT plans to finish tensioning cables and installing lighting on the arch bridge, and law enforcement will be on hand to direct traffic to alternate routes.

Closures will also impact Jack Warner Parkway, as the USA Duathlon will take place in Tuscaloosa this weekend. Jack Warner Parkway will be closed from the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater to Crescent Ridge Road from 5 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. Saturday and again from 5 a.m. until approximately 12 noon Sunday.

Exit ramps from McFarland Boulevard to Jack Warner Parkway will be closed during the same period as will Alabama 297 between Rice Mine Road and Jack Warner Parkway and Greensboro Avenue from 4th Street to the north end.

The Tuscaloosa River Walk will also be closed during the Duathlon.
