Must dial 205 to complete a call starting Oct. 12th

Beginning Oct 12th, users in the 205 area code must dial the three digits along with the seven-digit telephone number when making a local call. The NPA, North American Numbering Plan is adding an additional Area code to the 205 region to allow for more new phone numbers. The New Overlay code will be 659. After the 12th if you fail to dial the area code on your call you will get a message to hang up and dial again adding the correct area code. Many have lots of numbers stored in their cell phones so now would be a good time to start the process of adding the 205 area code to your local contacts.
