I'm from Brooklyn and I've never thought about trying to see this contest.  However, the Hot Dog eating contest and Nathan's Franks are very well known in New York. I just don't think it's fun to see someone gagging while shoving franks down their throat!

Anyway, Congratulations to JOEY CHESTNUT for winning the annual 'Nathan's Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest' at Coney Island yet again yesterday.

He managed to eat 74 hot dogs in 10 minutes, which was enough to break the previous record of 72 that HE set last year. There was a slight mix up at first! It appeared that he had only eaten 64 hot dogs.  It turned out that the judges somehow MISSED a plate.

This is his 11th win in 12 years.  It's been over a decade since  dominate  Joey beat the skinny kid TAKERU KOBAYASHI him in 2007 and he's been almost unstoppable ever since.

His only loss came in 2015, when he came in second behind Matt Stonie.  Kobayashi hasn't competed since 2009 because of some sort of contract dispute with 'Major League Eating.'
