The name says it all for Nothing Bundt Cakes, a new bakery with a singular focus that is set to open next week on McFarland Boulevard next to the Sleep Number mattress store.

The first Nothing Bundt Cakes was founded in Las Vegas in 1997, but Melinda Mason, the co-owner and operator of the Tuscaloosa location, said the business did not begin franchising nationally until around 10 years ago -- now more than 330 locations are open in the U.S.

Mason and her husband Dan also owns the bakery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but as a University of Alabama alumna, she said her eyes have always been on returning to Tuscaloosa to open a location here.

The build-out of the Druid City's bakery is nearly complete, and Mason said she hopes to begin training staff early next week with an eye on opening next Thursday, January 9th.

Once open, Nothing Bundt Cakes will stay true to its name and offer only bundt cakes in four sizes and 10 flavors, including snickerdoodle, white chocolate raspberry and red velvet. Click here to learn more about their menu.

Mason said all their cakes are made with premium ingredients and baked and frosted fresh every day.

"They're moist, wonderful cakes with no preservatives and as good as anything homemade," Mason said. "We look to make it easy for anyone who wants all the taste of a quality cake made at home but just doesn't have the time to do it themselves."

Look for Nothing Bundt Cakes at 1393 McFarland Boulevard when they open next Thursday morning. After operations begin, the bakery will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 10 until 6 on Saturdays and from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday.
