The National Weather Service has issued a “Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 am this morning” (Tuesday, January 5, 2021). This Dense Fog Advisory is for parts of central, northwest, and west-central Alabama.
What you should be concerned about is visibility. It could be a one-quarter mile or less in dense fog. Unfortunately, dense fog could lead to hazardous driving conditions. While driving this morning, be sure to use your headlights, leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you, slow down, and stay aware of surrounding drivers.
The National Weather Service Birmingham noted on their Facebook page that there “are areas of dense fog mainly west of I-65 this morning. Temps are sitting in the upper 30s/lower 40s and will warm into the 50s/60s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Skies become clear tonight, allowing for another cold night.”
The Dense Fog Advisory for this morning is for the following counties: Marion-Lamar-Fayette-Winston-Walker-Pickens-Tuscaloosa-Jefferson-Shelby-Sumter-Greene-Hale-Perry-Bibb-Chilton-Marengo-Dallas.
