A 36-year-old Pickens County man was arrested on two child pornography charges this week, District Attorney Andy Hamlin announced Tuesday in a press release.

Hamlin said agents of the 24th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Criminal Investigation Division, 24th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Sexual Assault Unit and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office have been conducting an investigation into 36-year-old Christopher Shaw which led Monday night to his arrest.

Shaw was charged with being a parent or guardian permitting children to engage in the production of obscene matter and possession with intent to disseminate obscene matter depicting children younger than 17.

Shaw was booked in the Pickens County Jail, where his bond was set at $1 million. Hamlin said he specifically asked Judge Sam Junkin for a high bond in this case.

“Because of the nature of the allegations and the age of the alleged victim, I asked the court to set a higher bond and that request was granted,” Hamlin said.

Hamlin also thanked the Reform Police Department and Pickens County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with taking Shaw into custody Monday night.

“I commend the investigators who worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of the victim involved and for the agencies that assisted in his arrest,” Hamlin said.

Hamlin added that the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible but said no further details can be released at this time.
