Alabamians Should Prepare for Dangerous Heat Levels
It’s summer in the south but our June temperatures have been below average and that is getting ready to change. We are monitoring the possibility of dangerous heat index values today in the southwest counties and later this week for the Townsquare Media coverage area.
Recently, the heat wave in Texas has tied and even broken high-temperature records. James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “the heat dome over Texas will creep eastward in coming days.”
Monday Outlook
Heat indices may reach or exceed 105 degrees this afternoon across the southwest.
A heat advisory goes into place starting at Noon until 9:00 p.m. for the following counties:
Greene
Marengo
Pickens
Sumter
Perhaps the hottest weather so far this year is on the way!
Our area is faced with the possibility of temperatures in the high 90s and even over 100 degrees on Thursday and Friday. This means heat index values in the Townsquare Media coverage area could reach as high as 110 degrees on Thursday and Friday.
It’s still early in the week and this information could change pending weather conditions.
Our advice is to stay temperature-aware and practice heat safety.
