Report: President Donald Trump Plans to Attend Alabama-Georgia National Championship Game
Just when you thought Monday's national championship game between Alabama and Georgia couldn't get any bigger, news broke that President Donald Trump would be attending the game in Atlanta.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday afternoon that Trump plans to make the trip with Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff Nick Ayers, who is a Georgia native. The AJC also reported that Melania Trump would be traveling with them as well.
This College Football Playoff Championship is already setting up to be the most expensive ticket in the sport's history with fans making the short trip from Tuscaloosa or Athens. The All-SEC matchup will already have increased security with the magnitude of the game, but expect it to be stepped up even more with the President in town. You'll likely need to allow for more time getting through the gates when you arrive at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
It's unknown how this trip will impact his 'fake news' awards that he said would be given out on Monday at 5 p.m.
Alabama and Georgia are set to kickoff the final game of the 2017 season at 7 p.m. with pregame coverage beginning at 2 p.m. on 95.3 the Bear and Tide 102.9.
