The Alabama Department of Transportation continues its work on Interstate 20/59, and as a result, a portion of Skyland Boulevard will be closed this Saturday (May 9th).

The contractor made the announcement via an official press release posted to Twitter earlier today (Monday, May 4th).

ALDOT will be placing the final set of steel girders for the bridge at Exit 76 of Interstate 20/59 this Saturday. The portion of Skyland Boulevard that goes underneath that bridge will close in both directions from 3 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The right lane of Interstate 20/59 westbound will also be closed from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m. and ALDOT says law enforcement will be on site to assist with directing traffic.

Motorists can expect delays this weekend and are urged to take an alternate route.
