Runners Prepare for the Krispy Kreme Challenge in Tuscaloosa
It's a rainy morning in Tuscaloosa, but that's not preventing runners from lining up for the Krispy Kreme Challenge.
What exactly is the Krispy Kreme Challenge?
It's a charity run where participants run from one location (in this case, Government Plaza) to the local Krispy Kreme, where they will eat a dozen donuts before turning around and running back.
Yep, you read it right. Not only are they running approximately 2 miles to instantly gain 2 pounds in consumption, but they'll then run 2 more miles!
Who would sign up for something like this? Those who are not only gluttons for punishment but who also have a desire to lend their support to Big Brothers Big Sisters, the organization which has orchestrated the run and will benefit from its proceeds.
If you're not a runner but still want to contribute to the effort, donations are accepted. Also, it might be fun to go to Krispy Kreme and watch the runners arrive, inhale a dozen glazed donuts, and take off again. Think they'll leave with the same speed as they arrive?
