The following school systems in West Alabama have announced closure intentions ahead of Tuesday's (March 22, 2022) severe weather:

Tuscaloosa City Schools

Tuscaloosa City Schools announced Tuesday morning it will release students early starting with elementary students at 11:30 a.m., middle school students at noon and high school students at 12:30 p.m. There will be no after-school activities.

Lamar County Schools

All Lamar County schools will release at 12:30 p.m.

Tuscaloosa County Schools

Tuscaloosa County Schools will release students early starting with elementary and intermediate students at 11:35 a.m. with middle school and high school students releasing at noon.

Demopolis City Schools

Demopolis City Schools will release its students at 2 p.m.

Marengo County Schools

Marengo County Schools will release its students at 12:30 p.m.

Shelton State Community College

Shelton State Community College will close at 11:30 a.m.

The severe weather threat is expected to last from 2 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday and could produce tornadoes, damaging winds of up to 70 mph, large hail and localized flash flooding.
