It is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Alabama and one of the key elements during severe weather season is being and staying prepared. It would be a great time to finish any shopping you need to complete your emergency preparedness kit.

This weekend’s severe weather preparedness sales tax holiday gives “shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain severe weather preparedness items free of state sales tax. Local sales tax may apply,” said the Alabama Department of Revenue.

The 2022 Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday starts at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, and ends at twelve midnight on the following Sunday, February 27, 2022, pursuant to 40-23-230 through 233, Code of Alabama, 1975.

Some great items to stock up on to be prepared this severe weather season are items like batteries, backup cell phone batteries, NOAA weather radio, portable self-powered flashlights, self-contained first aid kits, and even portable generators.
