Snoop Dogg’s venerable career in entertainment will be feted at the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards. The rap vet is this year’s “I Am Hip Hop” award recipient. It’s certainly a well deserved honor for the 44-year-old rapper who has successfully carve a niche in music, film, television and business.

In addition to Snoop’s honor, chart-topping rappers Gucci Mane, T.I., Travi$ Scott and Young Thug have been tapped to perform at the event. Also, rap newbies Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, 21 Savage, Dae Dae, Big Baby D.R.A.M. and Isaiah Rashad will rock the mic as well.

Motivational Snapchat king DJ Khaled is the host of the awards ceremony, which is taping on Saturday (Sept. 17) at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta.

Drake leads the pack of nominees with a whopping 14 nominations, including Album of the Year for Views, Best Live Performer and Lyricist of the Year. Not too far behind him is his What a Time to Be Alive collaborator Future with 10 nominations, while Kanye West grabbed eight mentions in multiple categories.

There's no official word on who will appear in this year's The Cypher segments. Last year, the Def Squad camp— Erick Sermon, Keith Murray and Redman — arguably delivered the best lyrical cypher.

The 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards airs on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
