Stillman SGA President Seeks Local Church Partners
The Student Government Association at Stillman College is looking for churches which would like to be a part of Welcome Week, in hopes of assisting students find temporary church homes and maintain necessities through the year.
Welcome Week events will be held August 15th, 20th, and 21st from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Churches are asked to send representatives with church information, toiletries, and pantry items for students.
In an email, SGA President B. Rose Bryant writes:
Many students of our generation take certain aspects of college for granted. All students may not have access to the resources that allow them to have toiletries, laundry detergent, and snacks. This is where we ask our local congregations to fill in the gaps. Not only will this be an opportunity for ministry, but also a chance to put a human face on God’s grace. Our mission to “bring Stillman into the community and the community into Stillman”—which is the mantra of our gracious college president, Dr. Cynthia Warrick—is only as strong as the partnerships we build. A parable of Jesus, found in the book of Matthew, speaks to our supplication for donations to our Presbyterian-founded institution: “The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
She requests that willing participants send the following information to SGA@Stillman.edu, using the subject line, “Stillman Welcome Week”:
