Five years have passed since April 27, 2011. Alabama was devastated by a generational tornado outbreak that day; 62 tornadoes caused massive destruction as they carved their way across the state.

Wednesday marks five years since an EF-4 tornado devastated Tuscaloosa on April 27, 2011. The University of Alabama shared a special message and video on social media this morning ahead of the anniversary.

This Wednesday marks five years since the destructive F4 tornado destroyed Tuscaloosa and several events are planned to commemorate the day our community was changed.

On April 27th, 2011 at 5:13 pm, a tornado more than a mile wide touched down and ripped a path across Tuscaloosa.

The Alberta School of Performing Arts will host "Beautiful Things Come from Our Brokenness" Thursday, April 30, at 6 p.m. The evening will feature the healing stories of Tuscaloosa's recovery following the tornado of April 27, 2011.

I've noticed that the older I get, the more emotional I become. Sometimes, I think it's the fact that having a child has caused me to slow down and better appreciate the small things in life. As my pastor has been teaching a series on relationships (and an AWESOME series it is), today I am reminded of a relationship that ended 4 years ago.

Four years have passed since April 27, 2011. As we commemorate the anniversary of that tragic date, I’d like to share something special with you–I hope these words can mean as much to you as they do to me.
