Thankful to Be Back in Alabama

Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family, and friends! Thanksgiving is always a time of reflection for me. Even in the season of a national pandemic, there are so many reasons to be thankful.

I really do appreciate all our loyal listeners. The energy you give us is incredible. You have made my return to Alabama radio so wonderful.

I am most thankful to be back in Alabama. It’s no secret I was on 957 JAMZ and 1051 JAMZ (now 1051 The Block) for 14 years. In radio, that’s a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about that time in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa.

As radio would have it, I would travel to Greenville, South Carolina, and Charlotte, North Carolina. However, Alabama always had a special place in my heart. Seriously, we have been through so much together.

What Alabama means to me is not in particular places or attractions. It’s the soul. I made lifelong friends who are like family to me. My parents even moved to Alabama and lived in Pelham for eight years. I could be on the radio in two cities that ushered nothing but southern hospitality to my parents and me. I grew as a person by being in Alabama. I’m grateful for all of it.

Last summer, I returned to Alabama. I genuinely believe that the universe has a way of getting you where you need to be. I am super thankful to be back in Alabama. The past year has been simply amazing. Cheers to the holiday season.

Hugs from six feet away, Mary K
