This is Black Music Month! I’m often asked about my favorite artist and the artist I think made the most major contributions to black music.

Black Music Month is an excellent time to salute the pioneers and solders of black music that I’m familiar with or know something about.  I’m sure a few of my fellow radio personalities and musicians can give you a deeper insight.

Black Music of the fifties played a key role in American Music. The music of the fifties was heard on radio and seen of TV deep into the seventies

As a child I remember hearing songs like “Mona Lisa” and “Unforgettable by Nat King Cole.  I actually remember walking around in my front yard singing “Walking to New Orleans” by Fats Domino.

One my favorite is the Ray Charles classic “Hit the Road Jack”!  Yes when you start talking about black music the conversation can go as long as you like. Here’s what happened on June,3.
