Thanksgiving etiquette: There is Thanksgiving etiquette and there’s African American etiquette. I know this because I stumbled on a TV show talking about Thanksgiving etiquette and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and hearing. So I grabbed my laptop to research Thanksgiving etiquette.

Somebody forgot to pass this along to my family and everybody I know. We have been doing it wrong! And I have been to a lot of Thanksgiving dinners.

Let’s touch on Thanksgiving etiquette. Did you know?

  • You should invite at least one non-family member. This is supposed to ensure that everyone is on their best behavior. (Really?)
  • The music must be popping. (I agree with this one.)
  • No scented candles! (No, no, no there is one on every table.)
  • Have a schedule, 4p-6p cocktail hour. 6p meal time. 8p departure. (no comment)
  • You should arrive on time. You should avoid being early! (LMAO!! Arrive early are you kidding me?)
  • This one is my favorite. The seating guide. (You better get in where you fit in, if you get in.)
  • The host supplies all the alcohol! (NOT)

I’m sure this happens some where I just don’t where. More Thanksgiving etiquette
