Tuscaloosa Businesses Host Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home & Crematory is partnering with local businesses to host a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Tuesday, July 19th. Beginning at 9:00 am, officers can stop by the lot adjacent to the Southland Restaurant and receive a $10 gift certificate to Southland, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and other gifts donated from other businesses.
Event organizer Tonya Perry said, 'My husband suggested the idea of showing our appreciation and support after the shooting of the police officers in Texas. We have pondered ideas like this many many times, but we get busy and neglect to make it happen. I decided to run with the idea this time and make it happen.'
Perry said she's been amazed at what volunteers have been able to accomplish since Friday. 'It has been awesome!'
'We are trying to make it as convenient and speedy as possible,' she continued. 'They do not have to fill out anything, return to pick up anything, everything will be on location to be gifted and our tent will be set up from 9-5 to cover all shifts of law enforcement.'
Wilson’s Texaco has donated a free basic car wash and Laser Skin Center is donating goody bags for door prizes. Tonya said the list of businesses eager to participate continues to grow.
'It is our privilege to host a special event for all law enforcement whose service and sacrifice keep our community safe and secure.'
