The Tuscaloosa County High Wildcats compete in the toughest high school football region in the state of Alabama. A team from Region 3 has claimed the state championship in five of the seven years that Class 7A has been in existence. The Wildcats are prepared for another challenging year as Tuscaloosa County High released its 2021 schedule on social media this week.

County High opens up on the road with one of its three crosstown rival's the Paul W. Bryant Stampede. Last season a 35-0 victory over the Stampede was one of three wins for the Wildcats.

The 7A school will then host the Hillcrest Patriots in week two, its second rivalry game in the season's first two weeks. Last season the two schools played a thrilling game, the Patriots scored the game-winning touchdown with very little time on the clock to win the cross town rivalry.

The schedule gets no easier for the Wildcats and first-year head coach Adam Winegarden, TCHS hosts the two-time defending state champions Thompson Warriors at home in the first week of September to open up region play. Winegarden, previously in charge at Auburn High School, lost the 2020 state championship to Thompson in heart-breaking fashion.

County High will play all seven of its region matchups in succession, last season the Wildcats finished 1-6 in region play with a victory over Gadsden City. Homecoming for the Wildcats will be Sept. 17 against Vestavia Hills and senior night will occur in the final week on Oct. 29 against the Northridge Jaguars in the last cross-town rivalry matchup of the year.
