Tuscaloosa Native Madalen Mills Stars in Jingle Jangle Movie
It’s everywhere. In area stores, on television commercials, social media, and even in some homes. What is “it?”
Christmas cheer! Even before Halloween came, many already had their sights on the end of the year, Christmas to be exact.
For some, Christmas trees have been up for quite some time as the only semblance of hope for a happy moment in 2020.
Much anticipation has been built for Christmas movies which give us the warm and fuzzies. In fact, Christmas movies are already available On Demand. However, even amid the optimism of being able to watch our favorite annuals, the approaching debut of David E. Talbert’s “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey” caused many to set timers and DVRs.
A description of Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey states the following:
“Decades after his apprentice betrays him, a once joyful toy maker finds new hope when his bright young granddaughter appears on his doorstep.”
The movie includes an all-star cast with performers like Forest Whitaker, Keegan Michael Key, Anika Noni Rose, Phylicia Rashad, Hugh Bonneville, and Ricky Martin. John Legend is even in the credits as a producer.
But here in West Alabama, the real star is Madalen Mills who plays the role of Journey, as Tuscaloosa is the place called home.
We were told back in 2018 to have our eyes on Mills as she made her Broadway debut as Sophie in “School of Rock — The Musical.” Source.
Since that time, Madalen has solidified herself as a solid performer, often showcasing her many talents on Instagram while jumping on any chance to emit the light within.
Her performance in “Jingle Jangle” has gotten rave reviews, and just like we were told to be on the lookout for future projects involving Mills, there are more on the way. She is said to be cast in the upcoming movie “The Tiger Rising,” which also stars Queen Latifah and Katharine McPhee.
