Our Tuscaloosa Pastor of the Week is Pastor David Gay, Jr. of the Beulah Baptist Church. Praise 93.3 & 790 WTSK salute Pastor Gay this week on his work in the church and in the community.

Pastor David E. Gay, Jr., was born in Tuscaloosa Alabama and attended Druid High School, where he graduated in 1974. He went on to attend the University of Alabama, where he received both a Bachelors and a Master’s degree in Social Work in 1982. Pastor Gay has also received a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the Christian Life School of Theology, Atlanta Georgia. His education extends further, as a graduate of The William Shaw Master’s Teacher Series (National Baptist USA). He has also attended Sanford University Extension Program (Ministerial Division) and is currently attending the New Orleans Theological Seminary Extension Program pursuing his Masters of Divinity.

A lifetime member of the Beulah Baptist Church, Pastor Gay has served as Chairman of the Deacon’s board for over 15-years. Pastor Gay is a family man, who has been married for nearly 34 years to Mrs. Flora Bonner Gay. Within this union with the first lady, they were blessed with two children: one son, David Gay III, a daughter, Whitney Gay, and a grandson, David Gay IV. Pastor Gay’s hobbies include walking and gardening. He is a certified Master Gardner and enjoys sowing and reaping. He is a Retired CEO from the Department of Mental Health and also a retired Major from the Alabama National Guard.

He is the Administrator of Maude Whatley Health Center and also serves on the Board of Directors of DCH. Prior to these responsibilities Mr. Gay served as an administrator at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. Pastor Gay is from the West Tuscaloosa community, and grew up on Jemison Avenue.

Reverend Gay was installed as pastor of Beulah Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, AL in May of 2013. Since then, the church has experienced unprecedented growth. Pastor Gay’s love for people is evident by the many ministries that have been implemented since his his inception as pastor.

The church has a television broadcast that airs locally on WVUA and they serve the community with many events such as food giveaways and clothing drives under his pastoral direction.
