Tuscaloosa Police Investigating Shooting Near Southwood Neighborhood

The Tuscaloosa Police Department and the area's Violent Crimes Unit are investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting near the city's Southwood neighborhood.

Police and investigators were working a scene at the intersection of 3rd Avenue East and 39th Street East around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Cpt. Kip Hart, the assistant commander of the VCU, confirmed that investigators were called to the scene after a woman was shot there, but did not immediately have more details to release. Stay tuned to this site and station for more news as it becomes available.
