The Tuscaloosa Police Department is gearing up to move the lion's share of its operations to a temporary location on Hargrove Road while their facility on Trevor S. Phillips Avenue undergoes renovations.

Lt. Teena Richardson, a department spokeswoman, said TPD's Administration, Records, Traffic and Investigative Divisions will begin to move to their temporary home next Monday, January 6th.

The temporary headquarters will be at 2501 East Hargrove Road, in the old Oakhill School next to Bowers Park.

The police force will return to their current facility in around two years, Richardson said, after much-needed renovations and repairs are complete.

Logistically, the move will cause the Records Division to close from January 6th until 8th, Monday through Wednesday, and reopen on January 9th at 8 a.m. at the new location. The operations of the other divisions are not expected to be affected.

Richardson said the Police Department will continue to function and respond to calls during the move and apologized for any inconvenience the move may cause.
