Veterans Day is coming up very soon. The nation will be preparing to salute those who served in the active military, naval, or air service. These men and women deserve the utmost respect.

An event I adore is the yearly Tuscaloosa Veterans Day program. It has been held at the Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority’s Veterans Memorial Park. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this fantastic event will become a drive-in only situation.

“Considering the need for extra safety and social distancing during this time, the program will be a drive-in only event,” said COL Duane Lamb, chairman of the Veterans Memorial Park Association.

An Alabama native will serve as the keynote speaker. From Marion, Alabama Major General William S. Lee Commanding General, 3d Medical Command. “MG Lee’s career of distinguished service includes a variety of medical and military command assignments.”

SAVE THE DATE

November 11 at 10 a.m., there will be a joint Veterans Day program. Hosted by the Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority’s Veterans Memorial Park Association, in conjunction with the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center and The University of Alabama Office of Veteran and Military Affairs.

The drive-in program will take place at located at the Veterans Memorial Park, 1701 McFarland Blvd. East. The event is free and open to the public. The program will be broadcasted on 87.9 FM radio. Therefore, “everyone can drive-in and tune-in while in the safety and comfort of their own vehicle.”
