Two people were killed in Tuscaloosa Tuesday night when their car was struck by an 18-wheeler on Jack Warner Parkway, police said Wednesday morning.

Lt. Teena Richardson, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said a Toyota 4Runner and a Quest Liner semitruck were both traveling on Jack Warner Parkway near the Bryant Bridge Tuesday night around 9 p.m.

Richardson said preliminary investigations suggest the 4Runner turned in front of the truck to enter the on-ramp for Bryant Bridge, causing the collision.

Both occupants of the 4Runner were pronounced dead at the scene, Richardson said.

TPD's Accident Reconstruction Unit is still investigating the fatal wreck, but Richardson said added that there is no indication at this time that the driver of the 18-wheeler was impaired in any way.

Richardson did not identify the victims killed in the accident, pending notification of their next of kin.
