Two men are fighting for their lives Sunday after being shot several times outside an apartment complex in Tuscaloosa.

Captain Kip Hart, the assistant commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the victims, who are 21 and 22, were sitting in a car outside Creekwood Apartments on 40th Avenue when an unknown gunman approached the vehicle and shot at least 15 rounds at the men inside before fleeing the area on foot.

The 22-year-old victim is being treated at DCH Regional Medical Center. The 21-year-old, whose injuries Hart called life-threatening, was taken to UAB for treatment.

The shooter has yet to be identified, but Hart said he was described as a black man dressed in all black clothing. The motive for the shooting also remains unknown.

Hart said while officers were on the scene at Creekwood, they heard more gunfire in the area. A short time later, a 20-year-old female told police she was inside her apartment in Hay Court, 4420 21st Street, when it was shot into by an unknown suspect.  Police are not sure if the two incidents are related.

More information will be released when it becomes available.
