The Dallas County Hornets (3-4) earned a big Class 4A Region 3 win against the Holt Ironmen (2-5) 33-0, spoiling homecoming at Woody Clements Stadium.

The Hornets proved to be dominant on both sides of the ball, led by a tenacious offensive line and dominant defensive performance.

“Our O-line is the strength of our team and we just played behind them,” said Dallas County head coach Douglas Laister. “They have a good quarterback who gave us a lot of problems, but we were able to contain him."

After a scoreless first quarter, the Hornets struck first early in the second quarter when RB Markeice Stallworth Jr. exploded up the middle for a 32-yard rushing touchdown putting Dallas County up 7-0.

Stallworth finished the game with 121 yards rushing on 11 carries with one TD.

The Hornets took that 7-0 lead to the half.

The Hornet offense quickly went to work in the second half as they only needed three plays to score on their opening possession. RB Michael Harris III pushed it in from 5 yards out extending the Dallas County lead to 13-0 with 10:57 left in the third quarter.

That touchdown proved to be detrimental for the Ironmen morale and the Dallas County offense pounded the ball down the field for the rest of the game leading to a 33-0 victory.

Holt QB Jordan Driver proved to be the only bright spot for the Ironmen. He went 9-of-16 passing for 86 yards and an interception.

“We played with a lot of heart in the first half," said Holt head coach Dustin Hyche. "They were in better condition than us which showed in the second half and we just ran out of gas.”

Holt faces Montevallo on the road next week and Dallas County travels to ACA.
