The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a winter weather advisory for snow that will be in effect from noon on Friday to 6am on Saturday.

The forecast calls for less than one inch for much of Tuscaloosa and West Alabama, but the forecast says that isolated areas could receive 1 to 2 inches. The winter weather will begin moving into the state around noon and could be hitting Tuscaloosa during a busy driving time on Friday afternoon.

The biggest threat for dangerous roads will come after sunset on Friday evening. As the temperatures drop below freezing, the roads could become icy in spots.

The City of Tuscaloosa has issued notice that their resources are on standby. Anyone needing a warm place or who knows of someone else needing a warm place can approach any law enforcement or fire and rescue officer or call the Tuscaloosa Police Department dispatch at 205-349-2121.

We will also be airing weather updates throughout the day on the radio.
