I’m glad to see the 54 percent increase in the cost of obtaining or renewing an Alabama driver’s license has no only caught my attention it has caught the attention of Senator Bill Holtzclaw.Last week Senator Holtzclaw introduced a bill that would reverse that price hike that went into effect in February. Holtzclaw said the price increase was made with no announcement by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and without legislative input.

Holtzclaw wrote on his blog. “I maintain that some fee increase may be warranted but the legislative oversight was missing”

The fee increase means $12.7 million in additional revenue, according to the legislative fiscal office. The bill would restore the $23.50 fee. The fee was raised to $36.25. Read more here.
