As surprised as we were to find out someone had stolen the WTUG Christmas tree from the Tinsel Trail, we were probably more stunned when we received the call that the tree had been located.  Here's what happened.

Last Friday (Dec. 4), we received a call from Tuscaloosa's One Place saying that the WTUG tree had been stolen from the Tinsel Trail.  Of course, with this being one of the organization's top fundraisers, they didn't want any blemish upon it.  However, they knew they to tell us that our tree had gone missing.

We shared the story on our website, and it was also covered by other local media.  Almost everyone in Tuscaloosa new that our tree had been stolen and with photos being shared, it went without saying that anyone who saw the tree would know to whom it belonged.  I mean, it was a very unique-looking tree.  It had microphones, cds, and music notes hanging from it, obviously a music-themed tree, totally befitting a radio station.

Wednesday morning, I was working-- you know, minding my own business --when a call came through stating our tree had been found.  I laughed, sure it was someone pulling a prank.  I asked the caller how he knew it was our tree, and he said it had a microphone and cds hanging from it.  Still a little skeptical, I called Charles and told him we should go to check it out.

So, we rolled up to Riverside East dormitory on the University of Alabama campus; and sure enough, there was our tree leaning against the wall by the dumpster.

Slightly naked, but we got it back.  Thanks to the community for looking out for us!
