Whenever I become acquainted with a new Tuscaloosa-area resident, I make it a point to take them to some of our "home grown" restaurants like Archibald and Woodrow's and the original Dreamland. Since Monique is new to the area, I decided to take her to KSV for lunch today.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by smiling faces. After I got caught up with Mr. Taylor, we placed our orders.  I have hamburger steak, dressing with gravy and cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, and green beans. (And yes, I said "have" because there was no way I could eat it all at once.  In fact, I may have eaten 1/3 of my meal.)  Monique has the same, except she chose smothered pork chops as her meat and added cabbage rather than green beans. DJ Twyst also accompanied us. He had barbecue chicken, macaroni and cheese, and green beans.

It had been a while since both Twyst and I had eaten down there. So, it was a bit nostalgic for the both of us. When I asked Monique what she thought of her meal, she said it was the best one she'd eaten since she's been here.

If you find yourself in need of a home-cooked meal away from home, give KSV a try!
